The author adminstered recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(rhG-CSF, Neutrogin(r)) to patients with neutropenia a Wonkwang University Hospital during the period of October, 1992 to April, 1993.
They were two aplastic anemia, two myelodysplastic syndrome, one patients with drug induced agranulocytosis, one Hodgkin's lymphoma, one acute myelogenous leukemia and four solid tumor patients receiving combination chemotherapy.
All the patients were treated with 250㎍/day of rhG-CSF by intravenous infusion for two to eleven days.(Median, 4 days)
Treatment with G-CSF accelerated the recovery of leukocyte and neutrophil count significantly (P<0.01 and p<0.01 respectively).
There were no difference in lymphocyte, monocyte and platelet counts between before and after treatment with G-CSF.
This study shows that rhG-CSF is clinically useful drug for patients treated with cytotoxic therapy and neurtopenic patients due to bone marrow dysfunction.
